It is with regret that the Board of Directors of the The Elaine and Herbert Gottschall Foundation has decided to discontinue the Foundation at the end of 2006. The Board encountered a major problem when it learned that, as a Canadian foundation, it was not legally entitled to financially support U.S. or European research into the brain/gut connection. Funds donated to date will be dispersed in accordance with the Foundation's mission. |

With regret and sadness I must report that Elaine Gottschall died today September 5th 2005. The world has lost a wonderful person who worked tirelessly to help others. By writing her book and bringing the Specific Carbohydrate Diet to the attention of people with bowel disorders many thousands of people regained an active lifestyle they had lost. Not only did she write the book but also she made herself available to advise on the implementation of the diet at a time in her life when most people would have taken it easy. Even up to a few months ago she was still researching and studying many difficult aspects of nutrition and digestion. I will miss the lively discussions we had, the grit and determination of a woman with a mission. Much of the information on this website is from Elaine and this website will continue to help others and as a memorial to Elaine.
